U.S. Navy Veteran Receives Free New Roof through Home Genius Cares
Home Genius Exteriors Honors Veteran Allan Endelmann Through National Roof Deployment Project
Eighty-year-old U.S. Navy veteran Allan Endelmann received a brand new roof thanks to a partnership between Home Genius Exteriors (HGE), Owens Corning, and Lake Geauga Habitat for Humanity.
The roof replacement is part of the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project, a national initiative that provides new roofs at no cost to veterans and military families. As a Platinum Preffered Owens Corning contractor, Home Genius Exteriors has been an active participant with the Roof Deployment project for years. The Owens Corning Foundation donated the roofing materials, and Home Genius Exteriors team members were on-site to participate in the installation.
For Endelmann, a lifelong Northeast Ohio resident and former Navy Electronics Technician, the new roof comes as an unexpected gift. Endelmann has lived in his Madison home for more than three decades. It has been his constant—a place of routine, joy, and faith. But as the roof aged, repairs became impossible for him to manage alone.
“Giving back to those who serve our country is incredibly important to us,” said Brent Miller, Executive Vice President and Co-founder of Home Genius Exteriors. “We’re proud to be part of an effort that makes a meaningful difference for someone who has spent his life showing up for others.”
Enlisting shortly after high school, Endelmann worked to maintain critical shipboard systems that kept crews safe. When asked what the Navy taught him, he responded with quiet simplicity: “You learn to stick together and look out for people. That stays with you.” Though he has outlived many of the loved ones he once leaned on, Endelmann speaks about his life with honesty rather than sadness. He reflects on the friends he met in the Navy, the places he traveled, and the pride of serving a cause greater than himself.
“You try to leave people better than you found them. That’s all any of us can do.”
– Allan Endelmann, Retired U.S. Navy Veteran
